This is by Cat it is a bust of son

With every piece I make, each begin in the narrative, a story telling, a phrase, present and personal influences, exploring human and animal psyches. Having always enjoyed the simple ambiguity and contusion portrayed in my work, I constantly strive to seek depth to a piece by using layers of color, glaze, texture, vintage decals and gold, plus I recycle and experiment where ever possible.

My journey with clay began as a child on the banks of the Ohinemuri River, growing up on a dairy farm, drawing, painting, modeling and craft. In 1989 after returning from my big OE I worked for Tony Sly Pottery and with the encouragement of (the late) Bryce Stevens enrolled with Waikato Polytechnic and completed a full time three year diploma in Design and Craft, majoring in clay with honors, under the watchful eyes of Moyra Elliot, Raewyn Atkinson and Nicki Jolly. In the years that followed I tutored through Waikato Society of Potters and Continuing Adult Education and took part in various art exhibitions etc, Iin 2003 we moved to Tauranga to join family. At present I work from a home studio (my she-shed) where I do commissions, and sell my work through various galleries, and teach pottery classes through The Incubator in the Historic Village in Tauranga
